Ok maybe I read it wrong, and if thats the case i'm sorry. My apologies on my last post.
I kinda feel for the OP though. As Lylia mentioned if I shared personal information with another woman and found out she was really a guy I'd be upset.
I can somewhat relate to it in a personal experience. It was a ways back but someone in game told me they saw my picture on that website for posting your rl pictures (ffxiplayers.com??) and said I look good. I knew that couldn't be true. Why? Because I don't have my picture online. I own neither a scanner nor a digital camera and as such my photo has never beeen digitalised. So in that essense I can relate to the OP. I was upset because someone else posted a fake picture of me and that really bothered me. In the end though I'm told the picture got taken down shortly after being put up. I guess someone found out it wasn't really me and took it down or something..... either way it still bothered me for a time.
As it stands though I like playing my mithra as the attractive, fun loving, sexy, social kinda kitty. In reality I'm rather shy and as such don't feel very comfortable in social situations. But online I can be the woman I can't IRL.
In FFXI I can mingle with the guys and tease em and have fun playing my kitty because there are no implications. I could never bring myself to do that to a guy IRL though. Its true the internet gives you a veil of anonymity. Thats why it's so much fun for me.
But on the same note I don't take anything I do online seriously IRL. When I enter FFXI I "become" Melphina and take on a completely different persona. But when I'm done it's back to normal life again.
I make it a point to keep my internet me and my real life me two distinct individuals. In FFXI I have an online boyfriend, a fun linkshell, and my own private fan club. I rather like coming onto the guys just to see what kinda reactions I can get outta em. But would I ever consider meeting theem IRL. Nope! Not really. The internet is just that; the internet. Truthfully I know nothing about the person on the other end. And thats how I like it.
I don't WANT to know about the person on the other end because in my little fantasy world I "am" a mithra and they "are" galkans and elvaans and tarutarus. I "do" go on adventures and slay goblins and make shineys. I "am" partying with a tarutaru black mage who is blowing up that crawler. That Galkan Paladin shielding me from danger is real..... if but only for the time that I am in-game.
Thats also why I never visited that ffxi fansite that allows players to post pictures of themselves IRL on the web (ffxiplayers.com??). Somehow if I saw the person on the other end of the screen for myself it would take away the magic, the mystique, the reality of my game. I have a very good imagination and I like FFXI as I play it just the way it is. An alternate reality to enter and play in where anything is possible.
I don't know why the OP went to such lengths to find out the truth. As it is I just take whatever someonee tells me online as truth and leave it at that. Why is this? Because I don't care about the real them. FFXI is a game and while I'm in the game the real world takes the back seat. Who they really are makes no differencee. I'll never meet them and I'll never have a real relationship. So I just play for fun. At the same time I'm a perfectly healthy, normal, all-american girl in IRL who goes shopping in the mall, watches moves, and does all that other "normal" stuff. FFXI is FFXI, RL is RL. Simple as that.

Although for me, I like to get to know the person behind the character. Some of my in-game friends have become my RL friends. For me, I don't see the problem with getting to know someone over the internet. ^^

Get off your high horse. Girls can play video games just as well as guys can. We aren't some sort of intellectually inferior breed of being that has to be hand fed everything because we can't do it on our own. Thats a very common stereotype that video games are for men, and women that play video games have to be helped because they are inccompetent and/or can't figure out how they work. We don't need to be hand fed anything more than guys do. Lotsa guys suck at video games too ya know. That door swingss both ways.
I've played RPG's all my life. Console RPG's always have the women playing the cleric, the healer type that has to be protected by the manly warriors because they fall on the battlefield first when pummeled by opposition. Is that where you get this notion?
I can live with video games portraying females as the healers and men as the warriors, (although I do like it when I see women warriors like Ayla in Chrono Trigger). But if you take that perception into reality you've made a big mistake.

Apparently there's a Lylia on another server at FFXIplayers.com (it's a pretty name and not terribly hard to arrive at since it's only five little letters, and not surprising that someone else chose it independently of me) who has a pic up. Because of the way people can search by name for pictures on that site, that Lylia comes up with absolutely no indication that she is not the Lylia on Kujata.
Because of it, I've gotten occasional harassment via PMs here and even in-game by people who don't like me and choose to show it by sending me cruel things about "my" appearance, which isn't even me. It pisses me off mostly because they're cruel comments motivated not by her appearance but out of spite toward me, but also because I wonder if she's gotten annoyed/harassed by these people too simply for having the same name as someone who's stepped on a couple of people's necks. (For what it's worth, they were really, really deserving necks, including a guy who told me my home town deserved to get hit with a big hurricane because "God was mad at the whores and voodoo and false gods" here. Now tell me that snake-handling freak didn't deserve scorn!)
They really need to fix that site to show someone's server more prominently along with their name. I don't want anyone to have to hear mean things intended for me, makes me feel very guilty.
...And to bring this back to being on-topic, that kind of thing is exactly why no one should be stealing someone else's picture and pawning it off as their own. Look at how much confusion and potential upset could happen just from an innocent, unknowing sharing of a name--let alone an intentional theft. It's wrong to misrepresent yourself that way intentionally, and I stand by my original contention that anyone who would do it is a creep.

And it goes without saying that the deadliest insult you can deal a woman is to tell her she's ugly, since obviously how we look is by far the most important thing about us. So a couple of clowns have looked around for pictures of "Lylia" and decided to bash me about "my" appearance. I have met both of them in real life and I talk to them on the phone when I'm home -.- Leave them the hell alone, you people are f**king ridiculous. They are my adoptive brother and sister. I never diputed the fact if they were brother sister. I simply proved that the person who says shes Anuril is not the person in the photos. What I do care about is that I was lied to no matter how big or small this lie was.
Anuril used someone elses pics and called them her own. That lie has snowballed my emotion. I do not trust Anuril/Noroelle or you Rioka.
