i think its funny that they say use the term "resolved issues". it seems to us nothing really got resolved. the end result is the same....no game.

Sorry, I don't buy the DDoS fantasy. I think it may be due to incompetence, plain and simple. SE has probably laid off/lost the persons responsible for their prior superb networking uptime and now we're beginning to feel the consequences of that bungle. Whether you agree with me or not, is entirely up to you. A refund would hit them in the pocket -- why should I quit playing a game I enjoy merely because the provider cannot keep the game playable? Wouldn't that be cutting off my nose to spite my face? No, the provider needs to understand that we need better uptime, the way to do it is either quit or protest in some other fashion.



these 2 posts sum up my thinking only they put WAY more effort than i did. i took the more "this is BS" approach. they took the heres the proof approach. ehh....to the same end..nothing gets done. do i think PoL deserves their 250k this month....f no.

To be quite honest the servers could be plugged in and running - too bad no information is getting to them since Asia's routers are getting the crap kicked out of them

I'll get rated down for this but, who cares.[/sm]

It is not so much a refund, but some gesture on SEs part to acknowledge that their customer base is important to them. I am sure that they are doing the best that they can, under the circumstances. However, customer service is NOT high on their priority list, and it really should be. Players are only going to deal with this poor service for a limited amount of time.

Anyways, nothing can be done about it unless a bulk of their customers complain. I guess I'll go watch TV. /gag

Just my Smiley: twocents and everybody be nice to each other. Are the insults and slander, over a game, really worth it?

Quit giving SE your $12.50 per month and you took the amount from SE that 25 people would, and that is on a monthly basis. If you hate SE that much, then by all means go for it.

The game has been more or less down for three days.

And those wow queries that people keep mention, was the last time you played wow the week it came out.

I played wow for 3 months recently, not one server kick not one query.

average useage, then once every 3-4 months when they come and

take a meter reading my account will either be billed or

credited the difference. If you paid the phone company

for a month of down service that's your own stupidty. Yes in

your service policy it states they aren't responisble for acts

of god.. but what that means is you can not sue them for breach

of contract, it does not mean they can bill you for a service

they are not providing LOL.

Hello... this is going to be my very first post here :P... anyway, i can fully understand where the first poster is coming from, but on top of this, i don't like how they always have to update during america's main time of play. as for the other people, i really think you should stip trying to prove yourself as somebody better when people type "g" or "ure". i know i come online to enjoy myself (unless of course for business purposes) but i don't come here to be perfect in literacy or perfect in my grammar. all im saying is i believe its you who is the fool for trying to put yourself above others. anyway... have a good day everyone :)

Ill never understand why SE chooses simply the worst times to even ***** with their game. Heck, the entire US is now getting on, this is when we are really supposed to get our moneys worth. They shouldnt even touch the game on weekends. Instead of doing the Holoween update on a thursday, it should have been on a damn monday, so they would have time to figure this crap out during the week, when not so many people are on. I stay up to midnight and later on a weekend, not on weeknights when i have my work to worry about.

About the cell phone comment:

People NEED cell phones in the world today. If something were to happen, and you couldn't get to a phone, a cell phone is the best thing you could ever ask for. (IE- Car accident or break down in the middle of nowhere)

You certainly dont read very well.

Go on vacation for a month (makeing sure all your electrical items are off), and then tell me you dont pay anything for your electric on a monthly basis. THere is a regular monthly charge where I live, + the amount you use. My phone bill is a flat monthly fee. It includes my cell phone, internet, long distance, and local. ITs always the same amount, and no refunds came along even though I couldnt use them (and even if I was to comlain, I wouldnt get anything. Your looking for a reason to hate me, which is fine with me. Like me or not, I could care less.

Really? {That's interesting}. Every electric company that I've ever used has always charged by the number of kilowatt-hours of electricity used, not a flat monthly rate. Therefore, you have no power = you have no electricity bill.

Phone service is a different story, of course. Still, I would hope that any reputable phone company would not be so cold as to charge you for a service that is not avaiable in a region devastated by a hurricane. Of course, that's just what I would do were I a corporate CEO.

I don't think many people here are arguing that SE has a legal obligation to do anything other than continue charging our credit cards. Rather, people (ok, I'm generalizing, I mean 'I') am putting myself in the position of SE CEO, and saying to myself "Do I find my company's recent performance acceptable, and if not, what can I do to better serve those who are purchasing my product?"

As uneloquent as the OP put it, theres much truth in what he said. This is what the fourth or third time PoL is down this week? Sure if this was the first, second, or even third time this happened I'd be fine. But, no, this has been going on forever, same story. DDoS attacks, or not, with all the 10 hour maintenances you'd think they get there sh*t together.

If SE was your coworker at the office, he'd be fired a long, long time ago.

I may be no computer expert, but seriously... Come on SE, this is getting old. Don't even give me the, "if you can't be away from FFXI a couple of hours, get a life," bullshi*t. I wish it was only a couple of hours; but it's not, it's atleast a few hours a week on average most of the time during the only hours that I can play.

This logic is very flawed, clearly the average person isn't playing every hour of the day (Though I'm sure we all know at least one person who does =P). When the customer is repeatedly inconvienced during the hours which they use a service they pay monthly for it does deserve some sort of good will on behalf of the company.

SE could easily make maintance hours fair and have downtime during JP primetime, this would satisfy a large portion of their customer base and we wouldn't be complaining like this if there was half the maintance time we've experience this month. If they don't want to do that then the American and European players who constantly not being able to play when they want to should not have to pay the month.

For anyone here who is old enough they pay their own bills you realize what I'm talking about...if your cable is out for a week then you call them up and complain, and they usually will give you a month of free cable, same thing with any other service you play for. SE is taking us for fools that since probably a large number of players don't pay for their games and that their parents do, they don't need to behave like a real company that adults interact with. Hell even Blizzard gave their customers a month free when they were having the large amount of server problems they were. During that time Blizzard worked hard to fix their problems and now World of Warcraft has little to no issues, what is so different that SE can't do this?

If this doesn't get better with their new "upgrades" then I'll likely call customer service and complain and try to get a free month =P.

BTW..sorry it took so long to respond...busy trying to log on so I can cancel my subscription to FFXI...I'm actually tired of paying for less than stellar service...Only costing SE about $16.00 U.S. so they will survive I'm sure....take care everyone..thanks for the memories..good and bad
