Hey guys,

I just cancelled my SWG subscription and was thinking about playing FFXI. I'm not sure about another MMO but FF games have always been superb so I am thinking about this one since I saw it on sale for 20 bucks.

A friend of mine might play this with me which would make it more enjoyable than SWG was. So if the two of us split the 20 dollar cost would we be able to use one key code to get 2 accounts and both of us play at the same time?

I know you can't choose your server but we will probably just keep reloading until we get the same one.

1. How is the economy?
2. How balanced are the professions?
3a. Are there enough quests to keep me going for a while?
3b. Are they interesting quests or just the standard kill and deliver type deals?

I guess that's it. I enjoyed some aspects of SWG but some of it just got annoying after a while. Everybody wore the same armor and stuff, to get anything different you either had to be a pansy while fighting or you had to be uber rich/powerful. Having a friend and a game where there are no real guidelines previously set up might make it more enjoyable. Thanks a lot, sorry for all the newb questions.

No, you can't have more than 1 account for one set of CDs. You'll each have to pay for a copy. I imagine it was the same for SWG, so I fail to see any logic behind asking this.

1.) Economy generally depends on the world you are on, but overall things are the same price across the board. Economy is generally pretty stable now for all the common items(if much higher priced than when I first started) but inflation is still occuring. Prices on items generally tend to fluctuate depending on supply and demand, so if you are willing to wait before you purchase an item you might be able to save some gil.

2.) It's hard to say the jobs are balanced, when each job has it's own specific role. The difference between SWG and FFXI is that you only have to have 1 character to experience every job, because you can switch freely between all at any time.

3a.) There are plenty of quests and missions.

3b.) Many are interesting(generally ones you won't be able to complete until you've got a few dozen levels under your belt). However, I would say a majority of quests are "standard kill and deliver type deals."

If people wearing the same stuff bothers you, you probably won't enjoy FFXI; there is a ton of armor available, but the pieces that stand out are few. "Cookie-cutter" job combinations/armor equipped basically define the norm. To be "different" you generally do have to be uber rich, even though most people don't realize that the cheaper things work well enough(it's all about the e-*****).
