Today, I get a invite and wait for about an hour before we head-out. We waited for a LS friend of the party leader to get there.
Then we head to Kuftal Tunnel for some crab killin.

First pull is an add that a promptly sleep II, then while we fighting the first crab and second is sleeping, the black mage casts poisonaga and adds a lizzy and wakes the crab so we escape with no death. Next we rest up, and start over, we pull a crab and we are doing fine. Then the dark uses Shockwave and adds a lizzy. So, we Escape again, and rest up. We run in and finally start exping, but then the dark knight who was the puller aggros a Haunt, and we have to zone. We wait for a while zone in and the dark, who wasn't fully healed runs in and aggros another haunt. We zone out and there are 2 mantocores and 2 Ants waiting there. Finally, I threw up my hands and told them I had to go. I warp out and a LS mate sees me and asked what happend. I type in that "I was just in a bad party", I then notice that I'm still in party chat, and still in party.
I usually have a very high tolerance for bad party's and I feel bad for what I said.
So, my Question is long do you stay in a bad party.

I usually stay long enough to where I can comfirm that they won't take any advice on how to improve their suckyness. It takes about 5 pulls to figure that out.

I stay long enough to try and be fair. If things aren't working out, and try and determine why. If it's because of a bad camp, I recommend to the party that we explore other options. If I know other options are available, and they refuse to move, I leave.

If it's just 1 or 2 bad players not pulling their weight, I evaluate the exp we're earning. If it's less than 2.5-3k exp/hour, I leave. (Having recently hit lvl 61, however, my expectation will be 3.5-4k exp/hour, with very few exceptions).

You'll know you have skill when you can't feel your *** anymore.

Show me someone who says mages can not melee and I will show you someone who has not seen the actions of Gandalf The White at the battle of Minis Tirith.

If the problem is a bad puller like in your party, I'll try to be the puller myself. But if it's more people and the party isn't just working out, I'll stay for a little while and leave. Fortunately, I haven't had really bad parties since less than 30ish.

Thats what was so wierd about this party At lvl 54, most of your Noob traits should be gone, but still we had a Drk doin Shockwave in a cave full of lizzys and crabs. And a Blk mage that actually used Poisonaga! I mean come on who actually uses that spell. Most of your main party spells are macroed. So this tells me that they weren't a macro mishap.
When we first started nobody wanted to be puller, so the DRG and DRK did a /random to see who was puller. DRK lost. So maybe it was that the DRK was too experianced in pulling, but after 5 bad things happen in a row its time to reevaluate the party.
I mostly feel bad for saying the party was bad to them.
I was dumb for not disbanding or turning off party chat.

I just hope I'm not being an *** about leaving, because I've haven't had to do something like that since the Dunes.

If I am leveling Ninja or Ranger, I will not stay in a bad party more than 10 minutes, Period.

I am not willing to spend huge sums of money for bad exp.

I spent two and half hours yesterday morning doing... something I'm not quite sure what it was.

Started off in Jeuno. Went to Crawlers's Nest. Someone didn't have enough gil for chocobo so another person ran down there alongside him.

So we get inside and spend about an hour attempting to get the entire PT to the Rumbler Room. No luck, a couple deaths.

We decide just to chain beetles and anticans in Quicksand Caves. Off we go and someone gets aggro at the crystal. OK, we kill it.

We're off to Quicksand Caves. Everyone decides to go a different route. I'm chillen at a great camp for about 15 minutes when everyone declares they are lost.

Hence I go running around the Altepa desert for another hour until I decide to D2 everyone I come across in my PT.

I agree with Hangook. If i'm leveling either ranger or ninja i have very little tolerance for bad parties. A decent party, or an okay party - i'll stick it through.

But if the people are being rude or stupid and the exp is crap, i just won't stick around. I can spend my time better than just getting frustrated and angry.

I always seem to be in bad party, I don't know why... I stay until I'm kicked. Which seems to happen every time I cast stonega in dunes while there are 3 pugs around... I wonder why?

Amen on nin/rng comment, I'd rather not throw money away... But further, it kinda depends on how easy it'll be to get another party. sometimes when I feel my tolerance for painful playing is pretty high and the chances of getting another party is fairly low (due to no seeking parties or a plethora of other similar jobs lfg or whatever) I'll grin and bear it out. On the other hand, if I'm a high demand job, I'll be less inclined to stick around.

When I'm smart I'll find something else to do...

But it's been forever since I've xp'd anyways, so I'm starting to foget how this game actually works anyways ;)

I usually find that it is not everyone in the party that sucks, but usually generally 1 or 2 people that suck. If you replace those with better players, then the party gets on a roll.

Don't give up hope on the party.

Even when you join a party and ask lvl 33 leader who the tank is and his reply is "What's a tank?"?

Why say "I have to go" when you don't have to? Just say the party is making you crazy and you're leaving.

I sometimes enjoy bad parties as much as I do with good parties. They give me a good laugh once in awhile(yeah I know, I'm evil).

I leveled my BLM to 11 and headed out to valkurm dunes. I got an invite right away(blind invite), so I joined them at camp right next to the home point near highlands entrance. We pulled an IT lizard, and each of us (excluding me) started dying one by one. The funny thing was everyone set their home point near the camp, so everytime they died they would HP back and continue fighting. After each battle, we would get 200 xp, but for the cost of a couple of deaths each. The party members were actually happy to see the 200 xp @_@. I guess they didn't know they lose xp if they die. I got my level, but the rest of the members deleveled at least once.

Sometimes good parties are boring.

Some parties suck because everyone sucks, but some suck because there's a weak link. A tank who doesn't hold agro, or a puller who is bad at the job are examples of weak links. Generally the damage dealers are never the weak link becuase if one guy is not doing his fair share of damage then he's a free rider, yes, but the other damage dealers will take up the slack.

The majority of people tend to stick with the bad party and the weak link rather than kicking him out. Although often it's hard to get rid of a bad tank because there's no other tank to replace him with.

I will usually stay until i see a fair opportunity to leave. I someone else mentions they have to go soon i will let them know i must go to. I try not to be rude and try to be fair. However, in a pt like the OP mentioned, i would hauled *** out of there as soon as possible.

A simple, "Is it me? or is this just not working?" That will start either everyone else picking it up a bit, or the party disbanding.

I really feel bad about some of the less picked melee guys. But, sitting in a party for chain 2..... followed by 5 minutes of Downtime.... I can find other more interesting things to do.

I usually have a very good inclination about how the party is going to unfold as we gather in Jeuno (or whatever other zone), and even if I have a really bad feeling, I will stick it out, atleast till we get somewhere to fight, becuase hey, they might suprise me. However, usually they do not, and the party sucks. I will probably stay around for an average of 5 pulls, and then disband and either seek, or go farm or something else.

Not to make this a crying fest, but I consider myself a very good DRK, but we have a bad rep, so like a few people said any XP is good XP, while in my case, yes this is very true, I don't feel it is worth the stress and aggravation from these incompetent people that just can't get it together.

So I'd say, I will stay in a bad party for an average of 5 pulls, some leeway would be applied if people are starting to listen, or the problems seem to be zone/wrong macro/coincidence related. Most of the time...it is just dumb people.
