For years I 6-boxed with 6 computers, believe it or not. I even started doing that back in the days before LCDs. Anyone remember those monster CRT monitors with the deep backsides? My game room would get so hot I'd have to run the a/c during cold days. I used mini-keyboards and programmable keyboards but no cheats whatsoever. I posted a picture of my setup back on my old guild's site long ago but can't find that picture anymore. It was fun but tiring, I have to admit. I was younger and more motivated then lol. Actually started when my son and his friends were playing EQ so we had multiple setups in our game room. Was an easy step to multi-boxing with the same machines once they all discovered girls and outgrew EQ. LOL

Im really glad they are using truebox. I was really enjoying ragefire but mage box armies coming into your camp and telling you to get out ruined it for me. I do wish they would restrict the buying/sell of krono on these servers but I suppose that will never happen. It brings out the worst in people when it comes to looting when they know a piece of loot = a free month of gametime.

So do I, but I agree they will not do it since it makes them a decent amount of money. On top of it causing problems in camps for high value items, it is irritating because I used to love buying/selling, hanging in North Freeport (my server's EC tunnel) flipping items for a small profit while I was LFG. It took patience to make money, especially since they only way I would buy an item would be if it was under priced. Then I would sell it at its regular market value. Kronos don't completely kill the market but they take enough enjoyment out of it that it is just not worth doing.

I'm not going to argue with you. But as has been said, if someone really wants to box and has the rig for it they can't stop you.
For me it is just that to use multiple machines I would have to go away from the family to do so.

Obviously the idea is to promote grouping and return to the social nature of the game.

I agree, the best EQ gameplay was before boxing became so prevalent. I was an early boxer but for years I just boxed a druid+enchanter and I always grouped with others, both guildies and "pick ups", and I'd drop one of my boxes if another guildie wanted to join. I started an enchanter as an alt-box because they were so hard to find and in such demand that a lot of times my groups were at a big disadvantage without mind buffs and crowd control. I expanded my "boxed set" gradually only as it began harder to find regular "real" groups.

Yeah, let's use this thread as a reference for meeting up in game. 5pm EST (the scheduled start time for Agnarr) is not a bad time for me since I'll be thru with work. The only question is how long it will take to log on!

I got in right after launch, made one character and got disconnected loading into South Qeynos (characters starting spawn). Took 5-8 minutes to remove character from the world. Then I was in queue 40ish minutes before "inactive" message wiped that. Still not able to get in, getting various error messages.

Based on the giant thread... they should have limited character creation to 1 character for the first 2 days, as the devs are saying it is the waiting for people to clear through character creation that is the bottleneck.

I've got to the character creation now, have him created, but it will not load into the world. As I type this I'm loading in but it is taking a very long time comparatively.
