What do you all think about the /pick changes in the latest patch?

I think the design in the pick feature before the patch had flaws. I haven't gathered all the detail on all the changes yet so I can't give an educated response on it yet.

I think it boils down to "what is actually the problem being addressed?" and is that problem non-Phinny server box-army stuff (as some say) or Phinny massive population and pick manipulations (as others say)? Or something else entirely?

- Load balanced pickzones will now 'lock' if any two versions of a load balanced zone have a player count less than or equal to 1/3 of the zone's threshold. A locked zone will:
- - Transfer any player corpses to the base zone and any new corpses created when you release from hover mode will get moved to the base zone immediately.
- - Block entry and will be removed the from the /pick options.

no idea but I wonder about the following
The issue I see is if your group wipes you zone into the base zone to maybe get your body but what if its full and you cant drop a merc to rez you?
then this is silly

is the body going to be in someone else camp or did they make a single area in each zone like zone in like some POP zones for the bodies to pop if not razed after a while.

I just wish a long time ago they fixed running mobs running through doors, walls as and fighting through them too.

It gets better... there's a dev post now that says phase 2 of picks getting locked is the locked picks will not give xp nor respawn.

So if you are in the pick trying to kill a placeholder to get an item...

So basically they are turning locked /picks into a zone where people can get a chance at whatever NPC or item but only one chance as there will be no respawns and experience. Therefore kicking them back to the base zone to compete for these targets until another pick opens up.

I can see why people are upset. They basically just told people you will now have to compete with others in the same zone for experience but we'll give you one chance to get your items in a temporary zone. Which is terrible design for Phinigel where this new /pick design doesn't support the huge population the server has. They now have to give multiple zones high ZEM to spread the grouping for experience population out.

Or they could announce opening up a clone server to Phinigel, announce that Phinigel and this new server will have this new /pick feature and then allowed free transfers off Phinigel to this server. If they are going to stick with this new /pick design they have to try and balance the servers population like a live server.
