This quest The Penance appears to be a tad involved. It exists for Iksars to regain their newbie robe, etc.

We need some people to run through this and verify the steps for the various classes.

Is it possible to do the quests as a non-Iksar?

Faction hits for the quest are mixed in reporting. Depending on the size of the hit, and the time it takes to do the quest it may be far easier to just grind the +1 faction hit mobs for whatever Cabilis faction one is after... but then again, maybe there is a fast strategy for doing this quest.

Yes, a non-Iksar can do the quests once faction is obtained. I have done the Necromancer; Shadow Knight and Shaman versions with a Dark Elf, a Dark Elf and Barbarian respectively. As you witnessed my DE SK trying to initiate the Shaman Penance quest whilst I was having problems getting it on the Barb Shaman, sometimes the reply to the NPC can be difficult to ascertain. For the Shaman version I eventually discovered the reply is a simple "Yes".
