Luclin models vs. old school modelsFollow

I intended to start this thread awhile back.

I have always preferred the old school models over the newer models. Sure, their forms are not refined, smooth, or curvy. But, the time spent on their animated movements makes up for this, in my opinion. I also really enjoyed the looks of the Velious era armor on the old models. My biggest problem with the newer models that came out with Luclin, is their very stiff and unnatural movements. There seems to be no grace to their movements, whether they are running or swinging a weapon. Secondary to this, I could never get over the chain look. Of what I saw of the half-elves, the chain legs look(to me) like striped pajamas. I did not like the look of the chain boots either, but I cannot describe what it is that I dislike. The tunics weren't so bad, they had a chain link look to them. The plate armor had a nice look to them as well. Otherwise, the models themselves look pretty good and the faces are pretty customizable. I have often thought they needed to overhaul the Luclin models to be more in line with the Drakkin models(as far as movement is concerned). I could live with my dislike of the chain look if they moved more naturally.

So which do you prefer and why?

I like the original Iksar, Ogres and Trolls better. I am indifferent to the others.

I think the Luclin Iksars were done lazy. The original graphics they swamp gracefully. With Luclin graphics they use the same generic movements other races have.

I think the Luclin Ogres and Trolls just look ugly. Sure they are not supposed to be a pretty race but I really enjoyed the looks of the original models so much better on them.

Old school on most. I like luclin male ogre, human, and female wood elves.

A lot of plate armor looks bad on luclin models like DE & gnome.

I think shoulder pads looks bad on all models. My son told me you can turn off shoulder pad look in WoW now.

This is funny due to I never wore shoulder pads due to them being so ugly.

My favorite for a good laugh is Vah Shir. When I log one in, or sometimes after zoning, they stand straight up with their arms to the side (kinda like the famous Leonardo DaVinci drawing), and they stay that way for a while, even while moving (they just slide along the ground, LOL).

I'm 100% for the old models. I'm sure a portion of it is the nostalgia, but mostly it's the animations. There are several new models that aren't bad, but I can not stand the ogre and troll models for the same reason. They are not meant to have the look of someone who lives in the gym, at least to me. But I feel that most people agree that those two are the most flagrant offenders of the remodel.

I use all pre-Luclin models. I don't mind the Luclin models for the most part but animations and weapon clipping are immersion-breaking and just plain terrible. I am going to count Vah Shir in the same category as Luclin models. How is it that 15 years after their release, Vah Shir still don't have a sitting idle animation?

I almost forgot about the elemental models. At least on the fire elemental illusion I use on my bard, you can tell in the movement that they made it with invisible legs. IIRC, the air and water elementals are the same. The earth one, I think, is pretty cool.
