Sure, it could just be a normal maintenance thing...

We'll be doing extended maintenance on Vulak`Aerr, Fippy Darkpaw, Lockjaw and Ragefire servers. We'll be doing one of these a day, and during this maintenance each server will be unavailable for approximately 24 hours.

These are scheduled for:
Vulak`Aerr - Down Monday, June 27, 2016, starting at 10AM PDT*
Fippy Darkpaw - Down Tuesday, June 28, 2016, starting at 10AM PDT*
Lockjaw - Down Wednesday, June 29, 2016, starting at 10AM PDT*
Ragefire - Down Thursday, June 30, 2016, starting at 10AM PDT*

...but it just seems suspicious that it is only paired (creation time) progression servers [Vulak is almost zero population, Fippy still progressing. Ragefire has > population than Lockjaw, but both are very viable in contrast to Vulak].

Conspiracy theorists suggest mergers incoming. Anyone hear anything official (i.e., buried in some other thread) or have a different conspiracy? Or is it just boring maintenance as Roshen says. Can you trust an ogre?

I should save them some time and just delete the monk I have on Vulak. When I log on I'm usually the only person on the server - which is both scary and interesting at the same time. I have even called out my pulls in general chat "incoming a walrus!" for fun since there's no one listening.

I find it more disconcerting that DBG lets this kind of situation persist. Surely a vacant server cries out for something/anything to be done?

There was 6 others on Vulak when I logged in yesterday. I remain astounded that the server is up.

If they are using modern tech for the zone hosts, where it just spins up what's needed, the overhead of maintaining a very-low-pop server may not be very large at all.

^ I concur.

I just find the optics of it strange: let a TLP server dry out on the vine when you could relaunch the server as something new. Example: antique loot live in-era, full boxing, FV lootcode, load balance + instances, progression based on 1 week unlocks after open world targets are completed for an expac. Mergers from or to FV allowed when it is caught up in progression. Premium membership to play.

I doubt 20 accounts exclusively pay to play on Vulak. I'd be surprised if there was more than a couple of people paying to box 3-6 accounts there as the only place they play.

Whereas my racing-unlock-liberal loot server proposal (while likely attracting at least one or two toxic guilds based on official board lurking the past few years and probably not a place I would play myself) could easily be one of the most populated servers including into it's live content era.

I don't know about any of that, but I can't log in at all this morning. Tried two different accounts, "There's something wrong with your request" type error message in nice red letters.

I am having the same problem unable to log in -- on 2 accounts keep getting "there was an error completing your request" -- and there is nothing on the Everquest Forums and when you try to log into the forums -- daybreak notice "We are currently undergoing maintenance" so unable to post about log in problems

Zek and AB were down for an extended amount of time as well, not just the TLP servers.

Edit:

"We'll be doing extended maintenance on Zek, Antonius Bayle and The Rathe servers. During this week we'll be doing one of these a day, and during this maintenance it's estimated that each server will be unavailable for up to 24 hours."

Today, The Rather server , is down for the lengthy server maintenance. That is where I play now.

Does anyone know exactly what is done during the nearly day long maintenance ? I am curious.

It just seems so odd, though, we just had a patch a little over a day ago, and now down for a full day. Why couldnt they consolidate that for some of the servers ?

Thank you for reading this.
