Looks like most of the eq servers were just taken offline. It would be nice to get an in game warning before doing so. So far no post on facebook or twitter but daybreak will almost never acknowledge any issues exist until there is a slew of posting stating as much.

Of course tonight tatanka will come here and post that all is well since he can log in so the servers must not have really gone down.

I guess it is patch day but I don't understand why it is so hard for daybreak to send in game messages warning that the servers are going to be taken down. Also, is there a reason that so called scheduled patches occur a various times? Why can't it be the same time of day every time? If it is so that the same people don't get screwed, then they really need to have an in game announcement. It just shows how little daybreak cares about their customers.

Tat :)

PS - Also, not a patch day, that I know of. No announcement on the forums, and patches always start in the early AM PST. A quick visit to the forums just now shows a banner stating that "Status: 1/14/2016 14:07 PST - We are currently investigating a potential issue with EverQuest worlds."

PPS - And I never said "servers" didn't go down. Just my server, since my Bazaar mule hadn't been dropped. And some one else confirmed it, also (Gbaji, https://everquest.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=1&mid=1446488187278752223&h=50&p=1#18 ). So there is that :)

PPPS - Servers are now back up. And guess what? My bazaar mule had been dropped, confirming that the server went down. So I stand by my posts in the earlier thread. My server had not been going down in that time frame, since my trader stayed logged in between all of my sessions.

I'm almost positive that I saw messages in that box on the right in the login screen the last couple times I played (Um... Sunday and Monday) saying there was a downtime planned for this Thursday (that's today, right?). It's possible I'm imagining things, but it's also possible you just missed the message?

If it was planned down time I don't think daybreak would post that there is an issue with the servers and they are looking into it.

And since the login is fubar just as often as it works, like many players, i always bypass it. When daybreaks solution for players logging in is to have a work around, it is complete ******** to only have a message there, if they even did post it there. Currently when i log in use the login screen, i see a blank page where messages, updates, and links are.

And as tatanka stated, patches are usually in the morning, not 2 or 3 pm pst.

At least with SOE, we always got system messages stating that the servers were going to go down in x number of minutes. If it is planned downtime, why is that so difficult for daybreak to do it? Either it is just pathetic customer service or they really want people to get pissed off and quit playing so that they don't have to support it. And roshen has made it perfectly clear that he has complete contempt for people who play eq and does not want to support it whatsoever.

It's interesting how different people get a different "feel" about something over the internet.

I have no problem with Roshen whatsoever. Never met the guy/girl. Wouldn't want his/her job.

Daybreak could have decided to do no Official boards with no community liaison... other newer games have taken that approach.

And my "feel" was that it was not a planned downtime, hence no warning messages.

I was on Tunare when it went down. There was no message. What I did notice was that the net status bar would occasionally start counting down to disconnect over the previous hour. It usually didn't go under 90%. Then chat messages started having massive lag delays, then bam, disconnected. Also, usually when that happens my char loses what ever had been gained since his last save. Not this time as far as I could see. He had just dinged and was another 3-4% in to the next level. When I checked later last night, that is where he still was.
