I know this has been around the Forums before but I can't seem to find it. My computer crashes every time I Alt Tab and some times when I zone in to my guild hall. If I zone in to the open guild hall it's ok. Anybody know why and maybe a fix? This is the computer crash, not just a desktop crash.

Delete your user content and reload the game.
It resolve most of this kind of crashes.

And just to be perfectly clear. That's the game related content on your computer. Not user account stuff on the EQ servers (so don't go deleting characters or anything). Just realized that "user content" could be interpreted incorrectly here.

Find your EQ startup icon, right click it, go to the properties tab and find the system path to the command being run. That'll tell you what path to follow to find where your game is installed. Open up whatever file explorer you use and go to that path. You can just delete the whole thing and then re-run the patcher (have to basically go to the website and download/install the game at that point). Or you can selectively delete/move various files. Zone and character files are most likely to be the culprits, I think, but others might have better specific information on that. Then run the patcher (which, if you haven't deleted the basic game binaries, should be a selection option in the login screen somewhere) to replace them with new ones.

I've never had to do this myself, and the specifics have changed over the years, so again, others might have better detailed information.

If it's EQ-supplied files that are the culprit (zones, graphics, etc), there used to be a "check integrity of my files" option in the patcher (Don't remember the exact wording). If you can do that, and repair/re-download those files, that might take care of it.
