I saw the notice about the double XP weekend, so I went All Access again. I wanted to start a few new chars, but I didn't want their home town to be Crescent Reach. I created a Dorf Berzerker on Tunare and an Iksar SK on Lockjaw. I got the Zerker to 31 and the SK to 12 before I jumped back on to Mystro my Bard from our Lunar Mutant Rights Now sojourn.

Things went very well, I took him to level 70 and upgraded a lot of his equipment. This is how he looks now: Mystro's Magelo profile

Just before I ended my session, someone in Anguish linked this item: Notched Blade of Bloodletting, I decided to try making a run for it even though I have never been to Anguish. I made it to within seconds of the zoneline before dying a miserably quick death. Something must have seen through my invis, but I died so quickly I didn't see what killed me. Oh well, it was not meant to be.

I love the low end game in EQ. I have only one char played to 80+ (my Paladin) and I "heroiced" 2 levels on him before taking him to his current 87. Thus, I am sadly lacking in knowledge on most of the higher level zones. In regular play, the closest I have ever come to Anguish was leveling my Necro in Noble's Causeway. I would have loved that sword, but offers like that are few and far between in these days of reduced populations on many servers. I would like to thank Mysticleesa (sorry can't remember the exact spelling) for the sword offer and doubly so for the rez and buff afterwards. Even though I lost the sword, it was not to bad of a return to EQ.

Too bad, /comfort, seriously.

The run thru Wall of Slaughter to Anguish run is eminently do-able with sow and invis, but WoS nameds all see thru invis as well as certain trash mobs. The mobs are fast, so they might be able to keep pace with lower level sow on a level 70 toon, I don't recall exactly. That was one of the big developments with the OoW xpac, mobs that could outpace players even with movement speed buffs. I hope the raid force was going to CoH-summon you to the loot because good luck trying to run thru Anguish even with invis.

Omens of War was such a good expansion, so much better than the horror of its predecessor, Gates of Discord. Heck, if OoW had been worse than GoD I would have quit the game forever way back then.

On my double-xp "weekend" I leveled a new druid to 17 on Phinigel. Was quite a bit of fun, considering I'm rehashing stuff I've done many times in the past. The easy grouping with "real" players is a big selling point of this new server. Let's give some year-end kudos to DBG for the notion.

Yes, had I made it those last few feet, CoH was the plan.

I did 3 things, which sort of contradict each other as focusing would have meant more progress:

1. Got my Vulak (dead server) necro to 65... was 59 or 58 at the start. Now I have hit the point where lack of funds (no economy) and still having several slots in classic gear (rather than SoD era or even TSS era) is hurting my efficiency vs. what I was used to on my old necro at 65. I can kite down red-con mammoths in icefall now, but it's not super efficient.

2. Got my Lockjaw chanter to 11 and ranger to 9ish (which was only a couple of levels for each). Not sure what I am doing with the chanter really, and the ranger is slow. XP is faster than Phinny though, so I'm torn a bit due to my limited play time as the long unlocks and faster XP might be smarter.

3. Got my Phinny ranger to 5ish and decided I may not be into this. Rolled my most-played class (necro) and have got it to 5 without the double XP. It's more fun, but I'm wanting to get past the level 1-15 game as that's not what I enjoy. I do like the population 1-40 on Phinny atm, there is a lot of people playing here.

I got my rogue to 32 or so (now 35) from 16. Fought in a few Lavastorm camps I never have before, along with the typical unrest, uguk, and lguk camps. I love playing my rogues, but the difficulty in classic compared to all other classes with the exception of maybe ranger, can be a major struggle. It is not the playing of the class, just the difficulty finding a group due to the lowest output of dps compared to casters. Add to the fact that the ability to drag corpses from deep in dungeons, or difficult to reach places is not nearly as vital as it once was due to respawning with all of your gear. It will get better after Kunark and acquiring my Ragebringer, it is just the initial classic grind can be frustrating at times.

I worked on 3 characters; two at 15-17 to 25th and one 18th to 35th on another server.

I really need to delete some characters... I have 175 on 5 accounts on all the blue servers except the European one.

Makes my 24 seem downright tame! All on one server, though :)

I dinged 98 x 3 over the weekend, and then made just about all the AA's that become available at 98 (and a few stragglers from earlier levels that I hadn't taken yet). This week, on to 99.

Starting to get excited, I haven't been max level since May of 2002, and now I getting somewhat close, and with HA's and dailies, I'm getting XP remarkably fast!

Hmm. If I count all characters on all servers including my dormant 2nd account I would push 100. Probably 140 if I count my brother's dormant account too. If I didn't used to delete characters (as high as 50) I would easily have 150 characters, and this is as a person that rarely boxed (2nd comp was too slow to do more than buff, main comp couldn't handle 2 windows when I was dabbling with boxing).

BUT... I only have a handful of characters over level 60, and if you take the heroic out I'm down to 7. (2 necros, 3 chanters, a monk and a cleric). Level 70 I'm down to 2 necros.

In defense of the bizarre numbers, I used to really enjoy the low level game (did a lot of newb armor and home city quests) and am very undecided on alts. I also tend to hit a wall in the 50s where I lose interest in the character/class/content. I probably have 30+ characters stalled there.

The second double XP got my vulak necro to 70. My Lockjaw chanter to 12 (1 more level than before) and my Phinny necro to 9 (4 more levels).

I use an Open Office spreadsheet to track them; account on a tab, server list on each account, and character list under each server name. The characters are list withn name, class, level, character race, guild, vet reward, deity, and if they have the festive doll. I use Magelo for the rest of the info..

I was shocked to, I thought I had 150 characters !

The two accounts that started out as ftp, and I upped to silver before that was gone, have characers only on one sever for one account and two servers for the other one. When I was emplyed, I had 3 paid acounts and I spent $1,000 per year on station cash cards from Wal-Mart. The new cards, haven't bought any.
