Spell macroFollow

Have question about training and hitting 1 button to continuously casting a spell. For example: Say you are a level 40 wiz and your divination skill is so low that you fizzle all the time how do I set up macro where I hit 1 button and it would continuously casting that spell where it is at on the spell action bar so I could train it.

To the extent of my knowledge, there is no way to constantly cast the spell. You can save yourself a bit of button spamming by making a macro that looks like this:

/cast x
/pause n
/cast x
/pause n
etc.

x = the # of the spellslot you're raising, n = the number of seconds it takes to recast the spell multiplied by ten. (2 seconds = 20, 3.5 = 35)

Hmm okay thanks. I already learned to do :
/pause n, /cast # of spell slot
/pause n, /cast # of spell slot
/pause n, /cast # of spell slot
/pause n, /cast # of spell slot
/pause n, /cast # of spell slot

Just thought there was an alternative to like autocasting but okay thanks anyways :)

Well, if you play on the Mac server, you can just tape the button down, but I'm not sure if that helps you much ;)

Remind me...

Is it possible to loop 2 macros?

So line 5 would start the next macro of 4 casts. Line 5 of macro 2 would be to cast macro #1.

I forget if you can make macros cast other macros you have dropped onto hotbars.
----

I've been building up skills on my 55 druid by casting invis on myself mid combat while root-rotting and/or letting the merc tank. I get 4-5 casts off in a given rotation and it costs no noticeable mana. Doesn't feel as tedious as sitting on one spot just doing the spell.

No you can't snailish.

Some people use an autofire gamepad and tape or hold the button down, and there are autofire programs to repeatedly hit a key. Both of this methods have been reported by GMs (but not a developer, that I'm aware of) to be ok, as long as you're not afk.

Thanks Yther. I didn't go in game to check as I have been dealing with real estate agents and showings on my house. Apparently they don't want me playing EQ while trying to sell it.

You have too many pauses in there. The last line doesn't need the pause.

/pause 50, /cast 1
/pause 50, /cast 1
/pause 50, /cast 1
/pause 50, /cast 1
/cast 1

For some reason, the game reads/executes all of the commands on one lines at once. Since it is the last spell you are casting, you don't need to have the pause. From there, once the gem refreshes you can hit the macro again.

Since I box and use alt-tab, I put a /g item in the last line to signal the macro is at the end. Like this:

/pause 50, /cast 1
/pause 50, /cast 1
/pause 50, /cast 1
/pause 50, /cast 1
/cast 1, /g Wayen done casting

Than way I know I can alt-tab back and hit the hotkey again.

For Shamans

The following is designed specifically for Shamans to get their spell skills up. It utilizes 5 Audio Triggers, to let the shaman know when a skill point has been obtained and an Audio Trigger to let the shaman know that the macro is complete. The audio file you use is really up to you. I, personally, use a Mac to create all of mine, using the Dictation and Speech voices and "say" command in Terminal to output the audio files and then move them to the audio triggers - shared folder. Believe it or not, the audio triggers make spell skilling a lot easier and less confusing as to when to hit the button to repeat the macro.

The macros below are designed to recast as quickly as possible, except for Conjuration, which will give you a short space to destroy the item before casting again.

Step 1: Set up audio triggers for Abjuration - Slot 1, Alteration - Slot 2, Conjuration - Slot 3 and Divination - Slot 4 - The trigger is: "You have become better at x!" (where "X" is the skill) You will have 4 audio triggers set up

For those that may not know, Audio Triggers are listed on the "EQ" button under "Actions" then "Audio Triggers" (3rd from bottom)

Step 2: Set up audio trigger for Skill Macro Completion - the Trigger is "Done...cast again" You will now have a total of 5 Audio Triggers

Step 3: Load Spell Set "Spell Skills" (Abjuration: Endure Cold; Alteration: Dexterous Aura; Conjuration: Summon Water; Divination: True North

Step 4: Abjuration - Endure Cold

/pause 40, /cast 1
/pause 40, /cast 1
/pause 40, /cast 1
/pause 40, /cast 1
/say Done...cast again

When you hear your Audio Trigger for spell skill macro completion, hit the button to repeat the macro. The same applies to all macros.

Step 5: Alteration - Dexterous Aura

/pause 45, /cast 2
/pause 45, /cast 2
/pause 45, /cast 2
/pause 45, /cast 2
/say Done...cast again

Step 6: Conjuration - Summon Water Note: Have your Inventory window open, so you can click "Destroy" after each casting.

/pause 65, /cast 3
/pause 65, /cast 3
/pause 65, /cast 3
/pause 65, /cast 3
/say Done...cast again

Step 7: Divination - True North

/pause 60, /cast 4
/pause 60, /cast 4
/pause 60, /cast 4
/pause 60, /cast 4
/say Done...cast again

I use a mouse with programmable keys and that lets you create macros for each mouse key if you want. I use a Razer Naga Epic Chroma, and also have a Logitech G700s. This is OK per DBG and the Eula if you are at the keyboard. Other brands are available. The exact process for making this work vary for each device and software you use.

Make an in game macro. I use one for Foraging, Cast Skill ups, fishing, and Track skill ups. I am going to keep this somewhat simple for an example; but, you can have a macro that skills up Forage and Tracking (for example). The following is how I do this using the Razer Mouse.

1. For Casting Skill ups I make a Macro titled "Cast Skillup". Line 1: /pause 4, /cast 2 (I put the spell I want to cast in slot 2 of the Spell Gems Bar)
2. Bind Key Strokes Shift+E to button 9 on Hotbar 10. (This is the Keystrokes, button, and Hotbar I use, you can use others if you wish)
3. I make a Macro in the Mouseware titled "EQ Skillup". I record the key press and release, followed by a 5 second delay. How you do this exactly will vary by the Brand of Mouse and the Mouseware you use. But simply put, the mouse records the pressing of the Shift key, small delay, pressing of E key, small delay, releasing the E key, small delay, and releasing of the Shift key, and I add a 5 second delay after the Shift key release. The Delay can be longer if needed or wanted.
4. I then then Bind my "EQ Skillup" Macro I made on the Mouse, to key 10 (can be any key) on the mouse. I select the option to toggle on continuous playback for key 10 on my mouse.

Now when I press the 10 key on my mouse, the mouse will use my "EQ Skillup" Macro to press and release the Shift+E key that is bound to button 9 on Bar 10 in game. The Button 9 on Bar 10 has my in game "Cast Skillup" bound to it, and will cast the spell I dragged to my 2 button on the Spell Gem Bar. The 10 Key on my mouse will simulate the Shift+E key presses every 5 seconds (again, this can be longer). The Key Presses will repeat until I press the 10 key on my mouse again.

Be at your keyboard when using these type of Auto press Macros and you will be ok. I use these when reading the paper, or eating, etc, at the desk the keyboard and pc are at.

Make sure to discontinue the Macro before chatting or playing game, as the key will continue to press E and cast the spell till you do.

Sometimes in my training macros I can't find a great skill for that school. Long cast and/or recast time, or high mana cost. For example on my Wizard I am using Eye of Zomm for Conjuration (there are other choices, but I don't like dealing with items on my cursor in these macros so I like this one). But it takes 6 seconds to cast and 10 seconds to refresh. So I use something like (from memory, I've at work now):

/stand,/pause 5
/cast 1,/pause 65
/sit

Yes, I shouldn't need the /pause 5 in the first line and the second /pause might work at 60, but I like some slack. Put that on some sort of longer repeat (perhaps 20 seconds?.. 16 would be a minimum in a zero latency environment). And yes, if you are set to auto-stand to cast you shouldn't need the first line, but this seems more fool proof.

This also works well with spells that cost too much mana to spam long term by using an even longer delay and giving yourself Meditate time (and skill ups ;p).
