EQ Zone Explorer (the actual name, but you were very close Sippin
) used the old Tutorial engine and when that was changed and removed is when EQZE quit working. From what remember back then, even though it was legal, Sony or maybe it was just the general population frowned upon it's use, claiming an unfair advantage.
EQIM (EQ Instant Messenger) was the old out-of-game chat program that was mentioned earlier and it quit working when Sony made a change to U-chat and cross-server tells to remove the workings of link bots (send a x-server tell with an item name or partial and receive a reply of matching items in the link format). You could log in with the same account as someone else who was in-game and it would work. The only problem with that is the in-game person would often lose all non-standard channels, same as if U-chat had went down.
There was a big problem with getting stuck everywhere when they switched to DirectX 8. Due to this problem not being fixed right away, is when they implemented the /rewind command. It took several months for stuck problem to get mostly fixed.
There was a directional graphics bug that was very annoying (screen would lose all terrain and objects, and only show the sky background when facing certain direction(s)). It took a long time to get fixed (over a year as I remember). Along a similar line, the Mechanical Guardian in DsH was invisible to those not using Pixel Shader 2.0 or higher when SoF first came out. Thankfully target rings still showed up when having it targetted, so you could at least have a general idea where it was at.
When I first started reading Sippin's post about a Dragon in Lake Rathe, I was thinking of the one time Dragon in Lake of Ill Omen (or was it Swamp of No Hope). I don't remember exactly as I didn't get to see it, or even know about it, until it was over. I think I was on a break then, plus if I was even guilded, it wasn't a progressive guild, but one several expansions behind the current expansion.
That's enough for now.
