I have been trying to add maps, I have followed the way I was told, and I still cant get it to work. I save it into the maps folder, I download the txt(or whatever its called), and I have also "saved picture as", and I still cant get it to work. I have resorted to just printing out the maps, but it would help a lot if I could just hit "m" and have the map there for me.

-Thank you

Go to mapfiend. Download and unzip.
Go to export and then go to you eq folder. Find the map folder and choose that as your destination.

Do you know how zip files work? If not, download Winzip (winzip.com iirc), and when installing it, have it associated wth zip files (is by default I think).

Using winzip, when you open a zip file, then hit the extract button, a dialog box comes up, select all files option, check the overwrite existing files box, and browse to your Everquest/maps directory in the, then hit the Extract button. This is of course after you download a map pack from mapfiend.net

Download the All Maps option from http://www.mapfiend.net/mappacks and save them to your desktop or my documents or where ever you can easily find them, and then open them with winzip and extract them as stated previously.

Yther Ore.

Once you get the .txt files into your map folder, you have to reboot EQ to make them effective. If you place them into the folder while the game is running, the old files have already been installed to that session so you won't see the new ones.

I extracted all the files, but I cant seem to find "export." Where is it, or what can I do otherwise?

'Extract to...' is the option you want, then point WinZIP to your EQ&maps folder. Say \Yes to ALL\ when it asks about overwriting old files.

The other way is to extract all the files and cut & paste them into the maps folder. "Yes to All" to replace the old ones. Restart EQ and they should be viewable.
