Anyone else wanting to start over?Follow

#1 Sep 28 2007 at 2:27 PM Rating: Excellent
Some one once suggested that if so many of us wanted to start over on a new progression server, why dont we make a guild and just pretend like the other expansions dont exist. Well.... if a guild were founded on some random server, with the goal being to start a whole new toon and advancing our way up thru the lvls expansion by expansion, with out getting buffs and gear from expansions we have not " unlocked " yet how many of you would be willing to join? I dont want to hear from you people who think this is a bad idea, or list the billion reasons why this idea would never work on any server, but if you would enjoy the chance casual gamers and hard core old people alike, to start a new toon, be able to group in old world zones, cheer when you get your 1st piece of banded gear, post here and lets see how many people we can get interested. Who knows if there is enough interest maybe we can form a whole friggin guild just from people who read these forums. I will be checking back here every day for the next 2 weeks if we can get 18+ people to post saying they would join, I will set up a message board somewhere where we can get together and setup a guild. if you guys wanna talk to me feel free, i am on the Combine at the moment my name is Tarn at the moment.....

PS I would want to have the guild goal be to unlock every expansions up to at least GoD. i think clearing to TIME with a classic style guild would be friggin awesome. Tho realisticly that would take quite a few months of casual raiding to farm 1.0s kill all the velious bosses, much less killing EMP and so on in luclin, then again always having people to group with, in zones you wanna group in, priceless.

I would love to do this. Only been playing a few years and its hard to find peeps that want to run all the older content again. I chose to stay away from the progression servers for the simple fact that I knew that it would turn into a race for the checkered flag sort of speak. I would really like to start a toon and go though it all. Good Idea.
EDIT: I would love to play another Pally.

if anyone is interested we have started a guild on the combine we are using the name Lords of the Combine on guildportal right now just as a place to vote on what we want out of the guild. we are currently setting up the guild so if you want in on the fun join channel classiceq and ask how to join and what we ask of you. We are currently accepting all toons but the catch is the must be lvl 1 toons and must NOT be frogloks, iksars, vah shir, beastlords, zerkers, drakken, basicly anything that was not in classic EQ. once the guild has beaten Naggy and Vox we will be accepting kunark era toons into our guild, so on and so forth as we unlock content.we are a really well balanced group at the moment but we realize that we are going to need more numbers once we start raiding. if you are a casual player, or never raided much dont worry about joining up we will be going at our own pace so you have tons of time to lvl and learn. however this does not mean we wont be raiding and moving thru content so more dedicated players should feel at home as well. check out our site at

Tamorto I am one of those who suggested that. I will warn you you had better spell it out to people EXACTLY what the purpose, and the rules are. NO EXCEPTIONS, or very very few.

Spend some time writting down your rules. And warn people who don't want to play by them you will boot them. I cannot stress this enough. No rules, loose rules, no structure etc. and your done.

If you don't, you won't have crap inside of 1-3 months, with everyone doing what/how/when they feel like. You will be just another EQ guild, with four people wandering aimlessly. Rules, and structure, or it won't work.

Post your requirements, and rules, on the SOE main board site. Just start a thread. Also post it on the server of your choosing, in the guild lobby, and in Blightfire Moore bulletin boards. Actually I think you can create a toon, on all the servers, and do it on all there boards, if you wish.

Goodluck I hope it works for you all.

agree with healermedic

i was part of 2 guilds like this. one of the biggest pittfalls was equipment. its tough to enforce equipment restrictions, making people only wear what that particular expansion had to offer, especially when they see stuff really cheap in the bazzar that is significantly superrior to what they are planning on camping for the next xxx hours.

its also tough to diplomatically get someone to take off gear that they have on for the same reasons, especially if they dont have the inferrior stuff to replace it with from the appripriate expansion.

and how do you plan on talking your caster into camping the shinning metalic robe for weeks, mabe months when he has a bonecaster robe in the bank from a lower level toon he bought for 100 gold?

after a while, the nostalga wears off, and they start feeling like they are wasting their time. eventually, they only log on during the off hours when they can do the latest and greatest with their main in their other guild.

then, like the above poster said, you have 4 people wandering around in differant palces doing theri own thing.

has happened twice to me.

the only way to enforce it, is with a server that doesnt give you a choice.

I followed the link in the post to the site for the guild. The most recent activity there was in October but it said they had changed their name to Imperium Incursio and they were on the Combine server. I'd start by making a toon on Combine and looking around for that guild tag.

We are currently in Kunark (on the Test sever)... working on epics. Not too late to catch up.. we will have a max lvl of 60 for quite awhile. =)

I wouldn't mind starting over somewhere, taking our time and going through everything again; especially if it was organized and there were strict guidelines and information set down. Most guilds that try this, sadly, seem to fall apart really quickly. Whether to lack of organization, or just lack of interest. *shrug* It is too bad, if you could get a large group of people, running through all of the old zones again would be incredibly fun.
