Melee Attack RateingFollow

How important is it and is it really worth boosting as high as you can? My SKs Atk is currently around 1300 was looking at making some +20 atk Augments. Slugworms are worth 20k ea minimum would it be worth making augments of Battle? Till I get my smithing up to wear I can make the Black gold inlays I am stuck purchasing the white gold inlays. I have Furocity (Double Strike II), Dextarity (Improve Dodge II), Sundering (Cleave II)

as a tank class, only worry about attack if your hp and ac are maxed.
