A RANT... I can't help it!Follow

Hello everyone,
I have to just vent, just get a few things OFF MY CHEST, and welcome you to come to this thread to vent as well.

Lately I have noticed that Nubees log in, and start playing WITHOUT doing the tutorial; Without reading the manual (or readme File that comes with the downloaded version) and basically without even attempting to figure out anything on their own.

Okay that might seem minor, but when someone comes on and OOC's Hey how do I eat the food in my pack; or some equally, trivial Barbara Striesand, and expects everyone to Listen, and then explain even the most BASIC thing in OOC it just wears on my nerves.
I spent COUNTLESS hours (well I guess you could count the hours, but even that would take an hour) reading, researching, finding recipies, doing quests, and YES! Even helping people, but man, I am not going to teach all Nubees how to play EQ. If they want to play, then READ THE DAMN Directions!

Whew, i feel much better now.
/grin

Okay here is another thing that pisses me off....
You are camping a specific mob, for a long time, you been killing all the placeholders, all the related spawns, and you are engaged in a battle with a minor mob when your TARGET spawns. BAM! here comes another player, sees your target mob, sees you fighting nearby, the lesser spawn, and takes down your Named Mob whilst you battle the sludge.

(Hopefully the named KILLS this rat!)

When all is said and done, you get Zilch for your HOURS of waiting.

Man that pisses me off.

I agree with your rant Lori, but Eq, unlike real life has built in some great devices to drown out the dunder-headed among us. I didn't even learn the value of /ignore until I joined Zek. Furthermore, newbies are so infrequent nowadays that you need not even fill up all those ignore slots with their Britney Spears names (is that what you mean Jonwin??).

Also, /report has also become one of my more likeable things to do to camp stealers, character sellers, platinum dealers, and the like. The moral is there are going to be idiots throughout the course of one's life, but at least EQ has a couple ways to filter them out so I guess we should be greatful.

Whats worse an Ebayer or someone compltely PLed to 60? Being as neither one has a clue how to play or how to get to the zone they want. Nothing pleases me more then listen to someone ***** and whine at my Cleric when I do my Location training sessions Temp, Virtue, and Conviction at location XXX, XXX, XXX No donations accepted. Directions however cost 1000p.

Barbara Stresand = BS... Malarkey, you know, the smelly stuff...

Now seriously, this scenario did happen to me on a spawn up inside the castle near the zone in to Nadox. The named in the throne room has a drop a cleric friend of mine wanted. We camped there for hours, killing all the leser mobs. We were fully engaged when the named mob spawned, and POOF here came a little guy, aced the named and took off with our loot. WE DID PETITION, and the EQ powers that be told us there wasn't a thing that they could do about it.

I am not sure if the rules have changed since then, but i sorta doubt it. Technically it was his kill, what are tehy goig to do, give us the item(s) he looted? How can that actually handle it.

At the time the player was in a guild, well known on our server, called Wraith. They were considered a rather "Uber" guild back then, I am pretty sure they are still so considered. But I also sent a tell to their guild leader and he basically told me to scratch. That left a bad taste in my mouth regarding that guild, but life went on... Then about a month later, the same friend and I were in Guk trying to get another semi-rare spawn, and Wraith was in there for a purpose, they trained all kinds of crap on our heads... This time we did successfully petition for a full rez and exp restoration, but it was the hassle that was no fun.

I think, (HOPE?) that the members of Wraith have matured a lot since then, funny but a lot of my former guildmates are now in Wraith. I see them with their guild tags and it always makes me go, WTF?

One bad seed in a guild is enough to do some serious damage to the guild's reputation; but when guild leadership ignores a problem then the guild (perhaps) deserves any taint it gets.

Apologys to any current members of this guild; as I am talking about old events here. Not to disparage any guildies associated with the current leadership.

Have a nice day.

Saddam Hussein: You need to watch your mouth, brat.
Cartman: ******** taco!
Saddam Hussein: Quick Satan! Do something!
Cartman: Try this on for size... Blood drenched frozen tampon popsicle!
Saddam Hussein: Hey, buddy! I know I was mean before. But don't worry - I can change!

That stinks that GMs didn't help you out or at the very least give the perp a warning. I hope you had it out with the D-bag camp-stealer. I suppose if they come into your camp, then you are entirely within your right to out dps the named and re-take the camp. I hardly think the camp-stealer would have an argument against you. If all else fails, you can transfer to pvp, in which case you could just kill them for taking your camp (the saving grace of the pvp server).

The ones taht drive me crazy are the people who go around with no armor and then get mad cause they can't tank reds in PC. Very few players demend players have any special armor. But there is tons of it tat drops in the new tutorial, and there is other newbie armor quests that ca be done with fair ease. I few days ago I was grouped with a iksar monk and all they had was the bronze weapon from gloomingkeep and a bunch of burlap armor. I mean by the time your level 18ish you should have a few pp and be able to at least cover yourself. This is all taking into consideration the person refuses to loot the armor in gloom, and that they refuse the freebie newbie quests as well.
