Speaking as a casual player it's probably a little less intense an issue for me, but there seem to be a couple of issues that Sony are trying to address:
1.) Rare items - they only drop once in a while because they are supposed to be rare - it ins't cloth sandals we're talking about here guys, it's major kit that makes an obvious difference to a character's performance, although reading some of the walkthroughs it does seem to have passed out the other side of good taste/common sense.
2.) Ninja looting - The biggest problem with this is no-drop items, otherwise you can just turn a log on and check what people loot and distribute it afterwards, those failing to do so can be reported/not allowed to play with the group. I appreciate that these are often the items that cause the problems but Sony tried to address that with the lockable dungeons in LDoN and nobody's using that (or not as many as hoped).
3.) Low-level content vs high-level content - I have to agree with the "leave the newbie zones alone" side of the arguement, or at least don't put these high-level, ultra-aggressive NPCs where newbies normally hunt in that zone. The Halloween event was a lot of fun in the EC for my level 11 Pally (just see how much trouble you can cause by casting fear on one of the low-levels - just only do it once), but practically was damn irritating as you couldn't use the zone for 1/3 of the time. Removing of areas like MM is just harsh as that was a great area for players of the core game.
Having said that, Sony does have to cater to it's largest market, which is the high-level characters. These are the guys who typically spend the most time in-game and make the most organised noise when Sony ask questions. There is low-level content there, has anyone got all of the newbie armours yet? It's taking me a long time I can tell you.
All said and done guys, I'm not going to say it's only a game because we all know that and we'd liketo see a reward for the genuine cost and effort associate with running these characters, but that is something to bare in mind, Sony will never be able to cater to all levels with any given expansion so it might be worth missing some of them out, or buying them after they have been played by others, if it's causing frustration.
