Train to ZoneFollow

My Apologies if I miss spoke, however I could have sworn when Kunark came into play, the cap was raised from 50 to 55. Then to 60 wil Luclin. Power brought it up to 65 and Gates to 70... Or something close to that...

However, did it really matter enough to dis-validate my story about bads trains being pulled? You seemed to be dead set in correcting something for a fact that really was un-necessary.

Carprin Cycle the first time for my guild was pure mayhem as we soon found out that not only were you not allowed to die, but evn FD'ing resulted in 4 of the meanest skeles you ever seen spawning for each PC that did so. this was a full raid, and as I turned around at the zoneout to accept my fate, there was an avalanche of calcium headed toward me. I grinned and snapped the shot.................

Way back I think it was pre-velious, maybe even pre-kunark, but as most of you know, the character models where much different then.

At any rate, I was level 26 I think it was, Dark Elf Warrior, and I was exp'n in the basement of Highkeep, killing goblins.

As you all know, there is only one exit in and out of that basement, the one that curves around to the bank...

One day, while I'm at the guard camp, we see a shout from the raider camp below screaming "Train!!" Seconds later, a huge Ogre Warrior comes running past us, with all the mobs from below. Everyone bolts for the exit.

The Ogre warrior gets stuck in the only doorway out, the one with the small steps that lead up into the 2 vendors. As he trys to duck and move around to break free, the wonderful pathing and glitches of the huge ogre just keep holding him in the door way. 3 groups of people scream in horror as the raiders and warriors annihilate the entire basement as people are helpless to escape.

I was the 2nd last survivor (the last was the ogre warrior, ironic). I laughed so hard I was crying. A day I will never forget....

This one isnt mine but one from a bard in my guild.

I remember liking to totally clear out the warrens. It was fricking fun, total ego trip to make your computer freeze for 5 minutes as it tried to register all the mobs dying.

I would run through the entire zone, AE fearing everything until I had (literally) the entire zone on my ***** Then I would stop and sing a PBAoE.

Well, one time I was doing this (level 63 or so, only recently gotten fade so wasn't used to it) and I was having a problem channeling the song. 50 trillion mobs can stun any one, honest. So instead of hitting fade (cuz I didn't remember it), my disc to dodge everything (pride), or just taking 2 steps back (zone line), I died. A horrible, swarmed, emberrassingly splattery death. In the warrens. In my 60's. No one knew, because I logged on Gate and stealth rezzed myself.

Funniest train for me was probably in PoEarth. The monk in our group decided that while I zoned out briefly to check something that he would "do laps" around zone. It's amazing what one successful stun from a mob can do to an uber monk. When I came back into zone, I just walked over to the corner of zone that all the mobs were having a convention at and picked up the corpse to deposit in front of the cleric like a good little rogue ;)

Definatly for me Would have to be ShadowHaven.

Cast SoE on yourself in nexus, zone in and start pinging arrows into everyone. Works 100% best if your a warrior. You keep shooting, they keep coming. They add 90% of time if you shot them or not. When you have 30-50 mobs, run towards Nexus zoneline, get a bit of control by flying over the water, so they run back and forth, stand in front of zone out, and activate your furious Displine. (Unlimited Counterattacks) It's amazing watching all the mobs beat on you at the same time all dark blues, and yet not one can do anything at all to yah. =)

Last at least 10 seconds then zone out.

Best train I think I've ever seen, though it has been mentioned several times, was in Fear. Ok, first off we all zone in and wipe thanks to somone popping that damn mezzing demon guy right at the zone in. Then one of our guildies manages to take him and just run off with him... and procedes to train the zone around in a circle while we all do CRs. That train was pretty impressive, but more was yet to come. After a long time we finally manage to break in, get a good rhythm going, and get our chanter her epic piece. Then I send out the eye of zomm (after it no longer got aggro) and say "I spy a Cazic Thule". So we decide we still have a decent raid force left, what the heck. None of us had ever killed him before. So our tired monk goes to get his attention, and a HUGE train of amy knights heads our way. Best part was it was a very organized single file line of death that we see coming from a mile away. I hit F8 and send in my pet, because that's what mages do in a completely mind numbing panic when we can't think of anything else to do. My logic was "Maybe he'll enrage and hold em back for 10 or so seconds". Yea, not so much. It was like throwing a stone into a wave... they didn't budge, flinch, or pause... just ate poor Zoner. All the casters looked at each other and said "Uh, hell with that" and gated, leaving all to be slaughtered except a rogue and a monk. When I get home from work I'll see if I had the clarity of mind at the time to get a screenshot and post it here if I did, but I highly doubt it.

Heh....the EQ 6th Anniversary hunt madness. Zoning into The OT, alot of noobs don't know that you don't run too close to the right when looking for the new merchant along the wall.

So, zoning into OT and right at the PoK book....a few dozen dead from where the Golems were pulled and slaughtered everyone. Ding indeed.

couple of weeks back, trying oceancrasher in Dulak. repop, then add (ranger didnt snare well...), had to use LoH, then situation got out of control , so we had to run.

aggroed basically everything in range on the way back (glad all had SOW)

managed to type "/OOC train" (had no macro, due to servermerge). after zoning to gunthak, one other guy (not from our group) said: "lads, that actually deserved to be called a train"- man, we were proud ;)

I started playing right after Kunark came out in 2000, after a disaterous effort at playing a Mage (kept getting killed by will-0-wisps because I had no idea you needed a 'magic weapon' to do so!) I started a High Elf cleric. Was doing very well for soloing around faydwer till lvl 17, then decided to see what all the buzz was about in Estate of Unrest.
I have to say, Unrest was THE place for me, I always had a grp and always lots of fun. My very first train I experienced was in Unrest. A grp of lvl 25-30s went inside the house to exp, they were doing well until about 40 minutes later when a shout broke the mob bashing the rest of the zone was doing..."/shout TRAIN to ZONE!!! MOVE it or DIE!!!"
My grp was by the gazebo just killing our last mob and we all halted to pay attention to what mobs were rushing out of the house. HEHE, I think that grp pulled the WHOLE house, there were hags, skellys, werebats, the hand, ghosts, mushrooms and numerous other undeady types found inside the house (my guess is that someone used an AE - oops!).
Unrest was so fun back then... :)

The best train I have ever seen goes back to one particular day in Pauldel Caverns. I had just made a Bard as an Alt and had him up to around his 20th level. I had a few guildies power leveling me and a few other guild mates. Basically a 65 Beastlord, a 58 Shaman, and a 63 Cleric. They were bored. Since all of the low level toons were basically twinks, were having an easy time killing Phlargs. We had 2 warriors in the group competeing to pull the most mobs back to camp so we could mow them down. After a few rounds of 12-15 Phlargs at a time I decided to teach them what a real train was all about. So I loaded up my AoE song and set out into the dark caverns. I must have been running around for at least 3-4 minutes and contracted the worst case of "Crud" imaginable. By the time I figured I had gathered a sufficient number of mobs I started to head back. Now I must admitt it was pretty darn hard to keep my toon running in the right direction, I was laughing so hard. I told everyone I had a mighty train and to get ready since I was unsure how many I had after me. When I rounded the final corner both my group and guild chat filled up with "Holy Craps!", "OMG"'s, and various other quick statements. I truned to see how big my train was and was immediately hit by massive lag. At least 25-30 mobs by my estimate (others claim it to be closer to 40+) Needless to say we lost a few lower levels and the big toons cleaned up. After that, there was no arguement about who coudl make the biggest train.
Some took screen shots of all the carnage but I was unable to get a copy from them to link. My little Bard is still level 23 so maybe I should remake the event = )
May not have been the hardest mobs or scariest zone, but then again I don;t think I would have lived to build a big enough train if it was.

My first, and most memorable train was sometime early Y2K. I'm killing bandits in West Karana(lvl 15ish ranger). My best piece of gear is a Barbed Leather Whip(7dmg 28dly and magical~). I get tired of killing the farm near Qeynos hills, so I meander up the hill to discover another bandit camp! I got curious, so I decided to explore the hills further. Soon enough I discover the cyclops' Choon and Froon. Super red cons. I look over the edge just past them and see Chief Goonda and his ogre guards. Being a complete newb, I run close to them. What can I say, I never saw an Ogre before =D. Invis wears off and I'm toast. Run back from Qeynos, get my corpse. This time, I aggro Choon and Froon. Thank god it was from a distance. I ran my lil squishy toosh and jumped til I was out of stamina to the guards thinking they'd help me. LOADING, PLEASE WAIT... Ow~

I had just zoned into crypt of decay and saw this huge group of people crowded into the south east corner. An /ooc said Incoming! Move to South East Corner now!. Well if was full, so I moved closer to the clicky-out stone on the west side. A Froglock Pally came screaming by with the biggest train I had ever seen. He zone in to Crypt B and the group of people ran off down the hall. His train, immediately turned on to me and pounded me to jelly befor I could click on the stone.
Apparently, this had been a raid, and I unfortunaltly zoned in just at the worst possible moment. <sigh>

Back in the days when 50 was Max, I played my once Main Kharr the enchanter, and was only level 42. This monk decided to train the entire undead section of lower guk, and then FD. My group was in the room where Sage is and with no deaths, near death and no mana, killed all the mobs with 3 names :) now that was one train and triumph for our group :) We wasn't happy with that training monk... He didn't expect us to live tho :)

The funniest/worst train I can remember has to be when I went to Fear to turn in for my Paladin Epic 1.0.

My guild had cleared all the way along the left wall heading to the ring of fire and set up a camp in a relatively safe spot. As you all know, Irak Atil's skellie wanders around and with the help of a ranger in my guild she got us in the general vicinity. Unfortunately according to her track from where we were set up, Irak looked to be INSIDE the fire ring and our raid force wasn't sufficient to jump inside and be able to handle all the mobs. So to save time I volunteered myself to go run in and do the turn in while everyone else stayed outside at camp. They all max buffed me, invised me up, sowed me and wished me goodluck(a few even offered to do last rites) and having the ranger guide me I set off.

Following her directions (left more, now right, no you went to far come back, etc) I tried locating the subject of my search, knowing that each passing second meant invis and sow were going to wear off and thinking its a good thing I have DA up for emergencies. Well something saw thru invis and, TADA, let the fun begin. Desparate to put as much distance between the mobs and me so I would have time to do the turn in I ran. Starting at the base of the pyramid, I ran in circles around it, each time going up one more level, not daring to turn around when the ranger said I had gone past it. I figured I'd just see him on the next pass. All hail number lock cause it was one less key I had to push lemme tell ya. Getting to the top of the pyramid my quarry has still eluded me so I'm thinking to myself "Self, perhaps hes inside the pyramid?" and wander in there to check. Nope dead end and that can only mean one thing. Yep you guessed it I clicked DA, turned tail and ran PAST all the mobs I had on me.

Now I'm starting to get a little worried thinking that perhaps Irak has sided with the forces of evil and is somewhere in the gaggle of mobs on my butt. Does that stop me though? The ranger says she doesnt think it is and I keep on. The DA wears off and I'm starting to get damage messages. My guild is being informed by my group that my health bar is slowly going down and the rest of the raid is cheering me on(one necro even commented that he lost a side bet he had I'd even lasted as long as I did). I continued running around the entire area again from the wall of flames inward in circles till I once again got to the top of the pyramid where my SoW got dispelled and upon seeing this, knew my feet weren't just going to take me where I needed to go. I died a lonely soul up there lemme tell you.

The guild applauded and when I zoned back into me they necro summoned me and rezzed me for another try.

Now here comes the funny part--a necro who was with us had decided to scout around and guess who he happened to find? Irak Atil, outside the ring, wandering around in the clearing out back. He probably hadn't been inside the ring the entire time and that entire gaggle had been for nothing(besides loads of fun and some great laughs). The turn-in went without a hitch and we all had to laugh at how it all went down.

Biggest Train I ever seen was in Dulak Was camping Windscorn with a friend and we got over run. we jumped ship just in time to have to dock pop on us and getting lost in the armory and by ocean crash then running past the treasure seekers we took a wrong turn and went past the hungry shark bar passing it we went by the drunken pritates finally we made it to the zone we had about 80 mobs on us. Well I made it out but my friend died at the zone line. On guy camping mobs by the caves said that was the craziest train he ever seen. Glad I lived to tell about it.

Nah...

the best train of all time was when

Frodo and the gang were hi-tailing it out to the zl in the Mines of Moria and got surrounded by 2000 (20,000 ?) orcs and goblies...
who then got frightened away by the balrog.

Now THAT was a train.
