This one isn't just about 1 train but it was the many many trains that make this memory last. It was when the lvl cap was 60 and KC was a hot zone. It was my first time in the zone and I was a 54 warrior at the time. It seemed every time I would say "54 Warrior lfg" someone would always respond with "Train right! move!" or someting like that.

I don't really know how it happened.

all I know is before two groups of us were even in the zone, zun was beating on us (and no other mobs.)

Gating mobs in VT. Always a good train. Almost guaranteed to wipe you too.

Bard song ae trains are always fun too. Named gets on the bards agro list and runs through about 4 rooms due to crazy VT pathing before finally getting figuring out how to get to the bard.

For those of us who don't know about VT rooms there is usually about 6 mobs/room give or take some trap mobs. Chain agro is huge as well so a mob walking by a door can agro another room making the train even bigger.

Others than my days in karnor and Maiden's, VT trains are the most spectacular and dooming imo.

You're quite wrong, the level caps have only ever been 50, 60, 65 and 70.

People, this is supposed to be a msg board for trains. If you must argue over level caps, please take it to another board. There's enough boards with petty squabbles, we don't need to clutter this one up too. And personally, i'll follow up with my own train story shortly (\_/)

Train memories...

well - the easy ones: Crushbone and Blackburrow but mostly in the 10-20 mob range.

The biggest train I've ever been involved in was the Warrens. I was in a group (raid) camping the Throne room and we had actually finished a successful session in there and were leaving.

I step out of the TR and notice most of the group involved in a furball - not even sure how it happened. I made the mistake (as I learned later) of trying to heal someone in that furball and eventually people start yelling ZONE ZONE!! So everyone runs in 5 different directions. I'm standing out of the way thinking I'm ok as a train of what must have been upwards of 50 kobolds follows the MT down the hallway parading in a frenzy right past me.

I now find out why I shouldn't have healed my group mate because the train starts aggro'ing me so I start running the same direction as the MT (again a mistake - half the train was AHEAD of me down the hall - I'm actually "running with the wolves" down the hall!).

Well, the MT dies and all the kobolds turn around. I can almost imagine a grin on their faces and a gleam in their eyes saliva dripping out of their mouths as I come running around a corner with half the train on me and the other half standing there over my groupmate's body. Needless to say the mob beat the crap out of me.

Nothin' like learning things the hard way in EQ :)

heres my train story ...

were in PoI and we decide we wanna do XM .... but we dont have time to wait for that slow, fat gnome to get to him so the SK descides that maybe if he attacks him and runs to XMs chambers we can get their faster, so were like alright that works ...

what we forgot was that there would be agro on the way, were all running as a group (im the cleric) with soe, and the train behind us is getting huge cause we havent killed any of it

I dont think that worked on spawning XM, or if it did, none of us were alive to see it and me being the cleric, had 24-ish seconds of divine aura to seen this gigantic train we pulled after the rest of the group fell quicker then i could see, and iv been in mm, cb, bb, bot, among other places for trains, and i have to say, WOW ... that was a huge train ... you all should try it, its rather kool to see all the mobs swarming in to kill your small four person group that thought even thought only there main tank was time armored they could take down XM ...

oh, and anyone got any good naked train stories? i love those

Damn mine was very embarassing.

I was working on an epic spawn in Lower Gukta on my chanter. I bound my soul near the spawn point so when I logged on each time I could check to see if it was up. Well I got invited to a group in PoV so I headed there.

We had a bad pull and half the mobs were unmezzable by me. (Thanks SOE for making mezzes suck in the 50's!) Our group was wiped out. No big deal, it happens. Only I forgot I was bound in Lower Gukta and I popped naked. The froakers didn't like me and I got lost trying to find the way out. I died a few times before I pulled the plug. I logged and alt and got a couple of friends to help with the CR. That was a pain and I always make sure I'm not bound in a bad spot anymore. Smiley: lol

THE BATTLE FOR LAVASTORM

SERVER:The new PvP server ZEK 4-6 weeks old. ( PvP servers Sullon Zek, Vallon Zek, Tallon Zek & Rallos Zek merged into one CrAzY server.)

GUILDS:Pandemonium-vs-HATE-vs-Ascending Dawn. 3-WAY PvP Raid Force Brawl from Hell with Extreme Prejudice.

(Honorable Mention should be given to full group numbers of Defiant , DoZ and Xanadu who fought and died with their allies)

ZONE:LAVASTORM MOUNTAINS DoN Zoneline room with the big Dragons Head.
TRAIN MOBS:All Dark Reign and Norrath Keeper guards. With a couple Dozen Goblin,Burnt Guardian and Lavaspinner tossed in for good measure.

When SOE decided to cram 4 PvP servers into one HUGE PvP server. They had to be thinking of creating total CHAOS. Well I must say for once they got what they wanted. The Prime Time Population of the Plane of Knowledge during that first week was noted to range from 500 to 700 people. I was told once the zone crashed when it reached 800. If you play on a blue server you have seen nothing like Zek. Picture every Smack Talking , Loud Mouth, Greedy , ****** , Whining , Sniviling , Spamming , Punk A$$ Scammer Thug you have ever known. Times that by 500 with all of them in one zone and you will get the idea of the joys of Zek those first few weeks.

I was on my low lv Druid one day as I watched forces from the 3 biggest guilds flood the zone in a span of 10 min. DoN had just came out and as I was doing some recon of the area when I seen level 70 players in time gear just light each other up at the Dragon Head / Zoneline.

The Fight started out with a raid force of Pandemonium & Defiant clashing with a smaller raid force of HATE. What started out as a 40 player pvp fight in this room soon Exploded as DoZ and Ascending Dawn started to enter the fight along with Pandemonium and Defiant Reinforcements. HATE was just slaughtered by Pandemonium at first but as Ascending Dawn and Allies showed up the place was total Chaos & Carnage. Guards from both DoN camps, goblins, undead, countless pets flooded the room to join the 70+ of the Nastiest Player Killers to ever play the game in a blood frenzy of Death.

When it was all said and done I tried and could not count the bodys in the room. This Battle gave me Nightmares where I dream my lv 70 Cleric was in the fight frantically searching for an Ally to heal while running from the Ogre / Troll Death Squads. I cannot get a lock on anyone who I consider an Ally to heal and I am forced to watch them die. In the end I am run down by the Death Squad of Shadow Knights running at Selo's Speed....

.... LOADING PLEASE WAIT

prexus server... day CT got revamped.

here i am a lowly lvl 50ish druid hanging out with a friend ( Catrice Sablepaw) in Velks doing a lil duo exp. well a few members of her guild ( KTF ) decided to go check out what was happening in CT. soi port us all over to Feerott. after zoneing in i hit track to see nothing but greenies and the occaasional light blue. we start killing since were allready there and clear way in. then this message comes up. If I were you i'd leave now. a few sec later a second message. I assure you , if you do not leave you shall endure much pain! so we head to the zone in to be safe. a few sec later track goes empty. all of a sudden the zone is red and people from the maze way down underneath come running for the zone ... took 2 hours to get my corpse out with the continuous trains .

I only experienced the regular trains I suppose. As a paladin, I spent a lot of time in Unrest. The trains there can be quite impressive (never more than a 20 mobs or so though), especially when they start in the Ghost Room and the player makes it to the zoneline lol.

I once wanted to help the person who got the train after him, I was in my 40's at that time (character already deleted :( and I foolishly believed that I could withstand a train with about 5 hags, abundant number of skeletons and several terrors.

Well, let's just say that the other player got away, I didn't.

The worst train I caused was the one in Mistmoore (before the revamp, about a year ago), I was hunting gargoyles for the item needed for the armour of Ro, I was spending time in the area just before the entrance of the castle, getting a bit of xp from all the mobs there and camping the three gargoyles in the back of the valley there.

And then I decided to see what's in that castle that was just above me, I finished clearing the valley and went upwards. Problem was that some high level cleared the castle (faction gain I believe it was for) but all mobs were just spawning as I entered a side room just next to the garden, so I ran. Mobs kept spawning as I passed them, but I got lucky and did manage (with loh) to reach the zoneline.

Being a curteous player, I called the train several times, but what I forgot to do was zone out immediately and not wait and see how big that train was (it was quite impressive, imo that is) so that train just kept coming.

A fellow player stood at the zoneline and cursed me for not zoning out instantly as that would have stopped the train and not lead them completely to the zoneline.

Mostly because the mobs in MM don't always immediately leave the zoneline, they stick around for a bit and if there are over 10 mobs there, hard to get back in that zone for some time.

Other than that, the usual trains in Dulak, the harbour getting my pallie spell from Chester (that train didn't get far as I couldn't get out of the invisible tunnel, got stuck and died), ...

All a load of fun, after some time has passed that is :)

Mine was probably the same as many others. First or second time in CC, so you don't want to pull, and you have the foolhardy warrior/monk/ranger who thinks "I can pull over this bridge!". Unfortunately they eat these words as the mob missteps and falls to the bottom of the cylinder followed by 3 mintes of silence until it's nearly forgotten and then you hear the /ooc from someone camping orcs further on in the tunnels saying "OMG WTF AHH" or something and then they're no longer in the zone. 30 seconds pass adn it arrives...... the whole network of tunnels. That's hell right der at lvl 30ish as an entire armada plows your group into paste/oblivion :D

Ahh yes it was KC me (a mage) a bard an SK and a druid. we are standing by the ent and the SK goes out to grab a gnoll we are all watching as he runs across the bridge to pull what seems to be one gnoll. Right as he approaches it a very very large number of gnolls comes out of nowhere, decending upon the ill-fated SK and killing him in less than a second, then immediately returning to their spots leaving nothing but a destroyed SK and a Mage Bard and Druid laughing histarically. but thats not all...while trying to get his corpse it happened two more times lol it was quite funny

My favorite train goes WAY back to Kunark, back in the day where the level limit was 60 and raiding Chardok was HARD, whole guild was going for raid on Royals. The pulling was being done by monk, who was doing wonderfully well.

Does anyone remember the lag spikes we used to get?

Monk got lag, fell in "the pit" and came back to the raid. ALL the undead in "the pit" came, probably greater than 50 (or at least so it seemed). 2 chanters managed to get them under control, sorta. Random mobs would pop up and kill a few people here and there. We are ALL thinking, we gonna die anyway, but back then mod rods could be used like candy and some how the chanters and clerics kept the whole thing going. I remember seeing both chanters die, but they were rezed and the other chanter had managed to keep crowd control.

The BEST trains are when you THINK you are going to die and you get to live:)

Ok raid took about an hour longer than it should've....

Biggest train I personally made? Mezzed a mob near the entrance of Veksar and ran all the way in to the sewers when I see the message that mez is broken...trained every mob from the front of the zone through to the back. Was laughing so hard I almost forgot to FD when I see the mass of mobs rolling down the hallway.

/ooc Train returning to spawn points...watch out peeps...dead and undead coming your way !

Place: Pre-Revamp Mistmoore Castle
Time: Several Years Ago
Characters: Me (Low 40ish Paladin)
A Friend (High 40ish Ranger)

We were in the Cell Room taking single pulls then we decided to venture up a bit.

My friend pulled some DE and he ran into the castle. As soon as this happened he yelled "Zone!"

We jumped out of the tower and booked it to the zoneline.

Coming up the hill I paused to have a look behind me, what I saw scared me.

There must have been like 40-50 dark elfs running after us.

I made it to the zone, but my friend Sac'd himself to save me.

I am sure partly because of the rez.

I wish I had a screen shot
