I like it since I get my first halfway decent any-mob nuke (for my level range) one level from now instead of 4.

Shock of Poison I think it is..

I have only glanced through it so far...

My normal DoT stack does 793 less damage then it did before. They nurfed one of my DoT's so bad I dropped it from my spell bar.

The Druid upgrade is supposed to be a stance that does +25% damage or +25% heal. They nurfed our nukes and now then nurfed our DoT's. Next it will be our heals.

Our wonderful stances (which I said was a stupid and completly worthless idea in the first place) will just boost us back to where we were before this whole thing started while reducing our other skills by an additional 50%.

The only way I can see that they can possably nurf Druids any more would to be to take away our ports or take the mana regen out of our skin line.

It would be easier to just nurf Druids completly. That way I can get extremly pissed off all at once instead of every time they do an "upgrade"

I put a mail in the discussion boards for druids.

As far as I can make out they are taking the druids ability to solo away. Why? Druids aren't the best group players. They aren't the best healers, they aren't the best nukers, they no longer can dot (I mean what's the point of dotting greens - because it doesn't dint anything blue for me), their buffs aren't as good as other classes. In short why would anyone want a druid in their group if there was an alternative?

I agree with Jchapin - if they don't want druids then do away with druids, and re-imburse me with the money I've spent getting mine up to a decent level. That's a thought - can I sue SOE for breach of contract?

I was soloing yellow/red cons in OT with my 30 shammy dots (Envenomed Breath, Affliction). No way I could have done it two days ago.

I had to sit every third mob or so but xp was decent for the time spent.

I like the better heals too.

Haven't looked through all of my druids spells yet, but the one that I did notice was reduced damage on Swarming Death. BUT, its tick duration went from 6 ticks to 9 ticks, so still better damage in the long run. I presume most of the others are like this as well. /shrug

Soe mentions the spell gear up in damage according to your level. So for us lvl 70 druids were onto a win-win situation here. Get in a group and be an excellent healer or excellent dps. Still you think we got it bad, them melee classes don't seem to be geting any of the good stuff.

tho the dot changes suck, given how big of a boost druids are getting, they had to be expected.

Did the stance thing go live or something? If so, I must've been sleeping. Any info on how to activate, etc would be appreciated. Thanks.

a 25%/-25% to nukes or heals is a absolutely gigantic boost, in addition to the earlier nuke upgrades.

I would assume it would go live next patch. it will kind of suck to have worse dots, even though the nukes even pre-stances are better.

but even the posted intent of the stance changes negates most of the druid whining. sony's obviously not out to get druids.

Looking now, I can kind of see the reason for the change to druid's dots.

They never intended to up the damage/tick for the druids dot with the stance thing.

Instead they have downed the druids dots with around 20%

Wasp Swarm:
Old damage 356
New damage 289

Old damage: 356 - 20% = 289
New damage with stance: 289 * 25% = 361

So with stance, druids are going to DOT for the same damage as before the patch yesterday.

Necro dots got all messed up.

We used to have several spells that lasted 1:36 or 2:06 in duration, but these were all cut practically in half. The damage per tick was upped in most cases, and the mana use and cast/recast times cut down. This means we can now stack all our dots on a single mob, watch them all run to duration, then re-cast all of them again before we get a kill. The efficiency of such is rather questionable. I didn't do anything except kite mobs in Skyfire so I didn't check everything out thoroughly, but it's going to take some work to re-figure everything out again.

when i first saw what happened to my DoTs (as a 58 druid) I thought, Druids getting raped again....
Then i did some more looking...

Winged death-mama cost and casting time reduced-damage reduced. OK I can buy that.
Breath of RO-Same.
I use Rowyl's bracer of Nature, with clicky Drones of Doom. Spell hit for 35 per tick. Now it is 74, the max for the spell according to level. My clicky is now hitting for my level. OK, that is better.
Creeping crud is a higher range as well, although it is a very low spell. Last time i cast it was probably in my thirties. It dows more now than my old DoD from the Bracer.
As an experiment, I sat in broodlands, and while foraging cast a variety of DoTs on passing dervishes and basilisks.
I would kill a Dk Blue with one full application of Winged Death, Breath of Ro, Drones of Doom, Stinging Swarm, and Creeping crud. A second application of Ro, Drones, and Swarm would kill it before the spells expired. Not bad.
I have no hard info on the spell level changes except one: SoW is now a 10 lvl from 14. alot of young druids on their first corpse runs will be very happy.

while it hurts soloing efficiency, it's an upgrade for groups, something that has previously been requested by pretty much every class that has long term dots.

no group mobs, and indeed, a good portion of raid mobs just dont last long enough for long dots to be efficient.

Total base dot damage on Wasp Swarm went from 2136(before patch) to 2601(current total damage). How is this a nerf?

This is clearly better sustained damage than before. If I want to do fast burst damage I would be using a nuke so I don't see what the problem is.

Swarming went up true but I don't know to mant Druids that only use 1 DoT. I use 3 to 4.

I use:

Swarming death which was 1440 and now is 2187
Immolation of Ro which was 2034 and now is 1450
Winged death which was 1550 and now is 594

Total before 5024 Total after 4231 which = -793 damage

While it wasn't a direct nurf they lowered our ice spells while boosting our fire spells effectively limiting our "variety" of damage.

I expressed my opinion very loudly when this idea was first posted so I wont get as much in depth but how many druids do you know that don't cast a heal or a nuke for a 5 minute period? I cast at least 1 of each almost every other mob.

If I am MH I throw a DoT or nuke on almost every mob between heals or if I am DPS I backup heal constantly. The puller pulls and gets smacked before the tank gets agro. The cleric is focused on the tank so I drop a heal on the puller. Just an example but you see what I am getting at.

BTW the Druid stance isn't +25/-25 it's +25/-50

why yes, I do. tho, I can't see myself using the nuke stance except for soloing.

you're missing the point, though.

it's not healing better in zones you already heal in, and have enough mana left to nuke in.

it's allowing druids to effectively heal riftseeker's etc, and heal better on raids -- RSS was hard to heal a hybrid in, on a qvic geared druid.

I truly hate nurfing...why oh why do you nurf the good things man??@?@???!?!?!?!? Its so gay, now if your not twinked ( me lol) and your trying to get money in BB you can't beat down the Aqua Gobbys now because SOE nerfed the loot...why do they do that? Its frickin hard as hell to earn money now....if your starting from scratch..again lol (like me) =)

Ok I calmed down a little from my original post

Still think I have been stiched on my dots, but I don't use them much, I kite and quad and with the improvements in the nukes at lvl58 (including now doing double damge on criticals) it means I can effectively clear things more quickly. Weren't SOE against these techniques though? If I bite off more than I can chew I root one or two and dot them then come back when I have enough mana and finish them. My problem is that with two dots I could do a fair amount of damage, now I need three and I'm running out of spell slots. Also if you cast three spells there isn't as much time to sit before casting again. I'm a druid for goodness sake I shouldn't need a horse!!!!

OK I'm a little confused as to why I got rated down for a simple question. I play a druid lvl 66 almost 67 and was simply voicing my opinion. I am not fond of this new stance, and I don't feel like we are getting a boost, that is simply an opinion. I don't think an awful rating was needed. But oh well it is just a message board.
I however am not pouting and will continue to play my druid solo or in group until I can no longer do so. <3 my druid =)

I think I missed something here... did they give DoTs and nukes an innate chance to crit now or something? I keep seeing people mention it. Or was it that way for pure casters all the time? I never, not once, remember seeing my necro crit on anything. If this is a change though, has anyone heard about how this will effect Spell Casting Fury AA? I feel so confused now... my whole little EQ world is spinning.

Jigg,
The way I understand it is if you have the spell casting fury aa at level 2 it will now also do double damage if you crit. Which before would only do double damage at level 3. So SCF3 just gives you a better chance to crit. But will also still do double damage.
The dot's crit when you own the aa (Cant think of the name now)
I haven't got it yet but will soon.
But no not to my knowledge could you ever crit (except wizards?) without purchasing the SCF aa. And never on dots unless you bought the aa.

I hope that helps lol

From what I gathered on the necro baords and from the necro correspondent, SoE is working with how DoTs are coded so that they work more like DD in terms of resists, partial resists, critting, etc. There was talk of getting rid of Burning/Extended Affliction focii and making DD focii work on them instead. Thus, the mechanics of DoT critting and premature DoT expiration (resist per tick).
